Handing over the items, the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia, Khaleel Ahmad Adamawiy, said that the Saudi government through the King’s Center for Humanitarian Relief and Aids provides humanitarian aids to Nigeria in various ways.

“The most recent programs last year were the implementation of a feeding initiative, where 48,300 people received food baskets in Kano, Yobe and Borno in the amount of $500,000.

“Food baskets were implemented in Kano State benefitting about 2,056 families this year.

“The center carried out a medical diagnosis campaign in Abuja, Kano and Lagos as part of its efforts to fulfill its humanitarian and pioneering role at the international level, as well as its commitment to the humanitarian principle which focused on alleviating the suffering of all afflicted people.

“The delivery of these dates is part of the humanitarian and relief aids provided by the custodian of the two holy mosques, may Allah protect him, to a number of friendly countries including Nigeria, so that it can reach families in need around the world,” he stated.

Earlier in his address, he stated that since the establishment of the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aids and Relief in May 2015, with the help of 175 members of the United Nations (UN), it has completed and delivered 2,374 projects valued at more than $6.2billion, benefitting 91 countries.

Meanwhile, the Kano State government through the Humanitarian ministry and support by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has since commenced distribution of the dates to the beneficiaries.
