Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed has requested the state House of Assembly to extend the tenure of appointed local government caretaker chairmen by a period of six months.
The governor’s request was contained in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Kashim and conveyed to the House.
Reading the letter to the lawmakers during plenary, Speaker Abubakar Suleiman said the tenure of the caretaker committee chairmen will elapse at the end of this month.
Similarly, the House received two executive bills, including a bill to repeal a law that established the Oil and Gas Academy Alkaleri and to enact a law for the establishment of Bauchi State religious preaching control and other related matters.
LEADERSHIP learnt that the House referred the two bills to the House relevant committees for further legislative action and are expected to report back within four weeks.
