Resident Doctors at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH) have commenced a one-week warning strike.
Issues raised include deteriorating infrastructure as well as outdated and dysfunctional equipment essential for the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.
A statement signed by the president of the resident doctors, Dr. Harrison Adja; general secretary, Dr. Maurice Oghenekaro and public relations officer, Dr. Erhire Clinton Umukoro, said the decision was reached by the ARD DELSUTH congress, adding that the industrial action commenced from 8am on Friday, April 26, 2024.
The body said the decision followed numerous efforts to enhance the fulfillment of the MORE AGENDA with the necessary requirements of the teaching hospital and the imperative to restore its former prestige.
