Findings, however, revealed that the incident occurred at Nsefik Layout in Calabar Municipal local government area of Calabar metropolis where both contending parties reside.

SP Ugbo was said to have been attacked by the couple who happened to be relatives of her landlord following a slight disagreement that ensued over a dog.

The couple and the Police PRO were said to have had misunderstandings in the past, and the latest misunderstanding resulted in the attack on the police officer, a development that landed her in the hospital.

When asked if the matter is going to be charge to court as the police have no right to detain the couple uneccessarily without charging the them to court, the deputy Police PRO stated that the attack on the Cross River Police spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, was unprovoked and uncalled for, stressing that the law would be  allowed to take its course on the matter.

“The matter has also been reported to the highest authority in the Police Force and we want the public to know that no stone shall be left unturned in this matter,” the deputy PPRO stated.
