A sociopolitical group in Kano, Concerned Forum, has said the relentless attack against the national chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje will fail.

Speaking to newsmen in Kano, secretary of the forum, Comrade Auwal Shuaibu, accused the Kano State Government of being desperate to embarrass Ganduje.

“Everything that happens, they always tie Ganduje to it. For instance, when an independent CSO, whose work centred on good governance made its report scoring the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) led government low, they accused Ganduje of sponsoring the organisation.

“The current Kano Government is averse to any form of criticism and unwilling to take blame for its flaws” he stated.

He further said the Kano State Government has massive existential challenges before it, adding “What the government needs to do is focus on governance, rather than spending most part of its time on chasing shadows and baseless campaigns to impugn the character and legacies of Dr Ganduje”.

Speaking also, the chairman of the forum, Amb Abdullahi Mohammed lambasted some civil society organisations (CSOs) in the country for criticising the directive of the Inspector General of Police to withdraw Police personnel attached to the Kano anti-graft agency.

“The directive of the IGP has nothing to do with Dr Ganduje. Recall, the Court of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, had earlier suspended the Chairman of the Kano anti-corruption, Mr Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado. In the eyes of the law, he is a persona non grata.

“He could not have continued to act in such a capacity. I think it was on that basis the IGP gave that order. But sadly, some CSOs whom are sympathetic to Mr Muhuyi had decided to question the action of the IGP” he said.

He further explained that the IGP is not answerable to Dr Ganduje, neither is he on his payroll. “Therefore, those CSOs have shown clearly that they have been compromised,” he added.
