The Lives And Livelihood Funds (LLF) has paid a field visit to projects under the Kano State Agro Pastoral Development Programme (KSADP) to ascertain how funds are being utilised.

Delivering an address at Kura local government area of Kano State yesterday while inspecting some women cooperatives that have been trained on rice milling and processing, the leader of the team, Adir Sheriff expressed satisfaction with what they have seen.

A woman cooperative leader, Lubabatu Kulliya explained that they have four modern centres established by the KSADP with fifty women each, making a total of two hundred women directly involved in the cooperative.

“With the support and training we received, we have now taken rice milling and processing to better levels beyond our traditional methods.

“There are new methods by which we weight the rice and know its quality, maintain its nutritional value and remove foreign bodies in the rice.

“The new methods are different, better and more productive from the traditional ones because this has eased the process and enhanced it.

“The traditional methods are very tedious and the end products are not as qualitative and in most cases they have lost their nutritional values,” she stated.

Other places visited by the LLF include the Milk Collection and Processing Centre at Falgore town of Doguwa local government area and the Karfi Onion Storage Technology Support.

Briefing newsmen on the project, the spokesperson of the project, Ameen Yassar explained that LLF support to the KSADP, now in its third year of implementation, has been instrumental in transforming the lives of numerous beneficiaries through a series of impactful initiatives.

He added that with a core mission to alleviate poverty by 30% and bolster food and nutrition security, KSADP aims to achieve a significant 50% reduction in the number of individuals affected by chronic food shortages.

He said this ambitious endeavour directly impacts an impressive 1,260,000 beneficiaries across Kano State, focusing on the sustainable development of selected livestock and crop value chains.

He added, “The project’s scope extends to smallholder farmers actively engaged in chosen agricultural value chain – as well as other key stakeholders such as input suppliers, service providers, processors, marketers, and traders by fostering collaboration and driving innovation within the agricultural sector.
