The speaker dismissed notions that the governor’s intent is to develop only the Warri/ Effurun axis of Delta State, stressing that developments are going on simultaneously in all parts of the state, including riverine areas.

According to Guwor, Warri is the business hub of Delta State and the governor saw the need to upgrade infrastructure in the locality. “It is not about sectionalism; it is about enhancing development to that part of the state for overall economic growth,” he added.

He disclosed that the legislative arm has been able to carry out its oversight functions without difficulty, stating that relationship with the executive has been symbiotic.

On the hike in electricity tariff amongst others, Guwor revealed that the governor recently forwarded a bill to the House for a re-enactment of the power sector law in the state as part of government efforts to cushion the effects of poor electricity supply and hike in tariff on Deltans.

He asserted that high tariff amidst other factors have led to the exodus of several multinationals and other companies from the country.
