The people of Tudun Biri in Igabi local government of Kaduna State were thrown into darkness on December 3, 2023 following what was later said to be an “error bombing” by the Nigerian military which killed no fewer than 100 people with several others sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

The affected community became headline news as many people, organisations and government paid visits to the affected community and made promises to alleviate their sufferings.

LEADERSHIP findings reveal that most of the promises including cash donations are already being fulfilled.

Only recently, Kaduna State governor Uba Sani flagged off the construction of a 5.5-kilometre asphalt road linking Tudun-Biri village in the Igabi local government area of the state to the Kaduna International Airport.

The road construction was part of the promises by the state government to alleviate the suffering of the community in terms of accessible roads to the community.

Also, the 109 members of the Nigerian Senate who promised to donate their December 2023 salaries, amounting to N109 million to the victims, it was gathered have fulfilled their promise.

Recall that immediately after the accidental bombing, a committee was set up by the state government which was followed by opening of an account in the name of the community where all the promised monies are being deposited.

The senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Lawal Usman, presented the N109 million to the state government for onward deposit into the said account and necessary disbursement appropriately.

LEADERSHIP gathered that apart from the construction of the access road to the village, the Kaduna State government is also undertaking the construction of a Skills Acquisition Centre and Modern Primary Healthcare Centre to serve the Tudun Biri people and neighbouring villages affected by the accidental bombing.

The governor, during the inauguration ceremony, said the project would open up the development of the agrarian community as well as link Tudun Biri and other neighbouring communities to the markets where they could easily sell their farm produce.

One of the leaders of Tudun Biri, Alhaji Magaji Aliyu Adamu who spoke to our correspondent via telephone confirmed the commencement of the road project alongside the skills acquisition centre and the primary health care centre in Tudun Biri.

He also confirmed that most of the promised financial donations are already being redeemed into the dedicated account opened in the name of the community. Meanwhile, he said no disbursement whatsoever has started.

Efforts to get details of promises made and how far with the fulfilment through the chief press secretary (CPS) of Kaduna State governor, Lawal Mohammed, was not successful as he did not pick his call and nor return missed call as at the time of filing the report.

It was also not clear whether or not the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) had fulfilled their promise of donation to the victims of the accidental bombing as efforts to confirm this were not successful.
