A coalition of registered Fulani groups in Plateau State has alleged the killing of two herdsmen; Sanusi Abdulkarim and Abdul Idris by suspected Irigwe militias in Maiyanga in Kwal district of Bassa local government area of Plateau State.

The chairman of the groups, Garba Abdullahi and secretary Adam Yakubu made the claims when they addressed newsmen in Jos.

They also alleged the killing and rustling of over 200 cattle valued at about N200 million while the suspected Irigwe militias butchered and carried the meat to their various houses in the process.

According to the groups’ leaders, Sanusi Abdulkarim was killed by the same people, his hands, legs and private part were cut-off without any provocation because there was no any encroachment or destruction of farm lands that would warrant reprisal of such barbaric and inhuman treatment on the herders.

Mohammed said the attack was coordinated in such a way that they noticed it coincided with the date the Department of State Services (DSS) issued an intelligence report on an impending attack on Fulani communities in Mangu and Bokkos during the Sallah which were successfully curbed.

According to the groups, the report saved Fulani lives and property from being destroyed adding that the attacks of Maiyanga came exactly one month after the intelligence report of DSS which convinced them of being well coordinated by the alleged militias.

The groups appealed to Plateau State and federal governments and security agencies and other stakeholders to arrest with immediate effect the mastermind of the attacks and pay the victims compensation to alleviate their suffering.

They also urged security agencies to recover all the rustled cattle kept around Bassa, Mangu, Bokkos and Barki Ladi LGA and return them to their rightful owners and to provide protection to their people and their source of livelihood against provocation, intimidation, isolated killing and maiming.

Meanwhile, efforts made to get the national secretary of the Irigwe Development Association, Mr Dickson Auta for his reactions over the allegation were unsuccessful as at the time of filling this report.
