Authorities of Potter’s Porch International Churches, Ilorin, Kwara State,  have clarified that no member of the church assaulted officers of Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA).

Officers of KWARTMA had last Sunday reportedly clamped vehicles of some members of the church parked in front of the worship centre during service.

In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the church, Moyinoluwa  Owolabi  yesterday, the church said none of its  members assaulted KWARTMA officers to warrant tendering any  apology as the road management agency claimed in a statement.

It noted that tendering such an apology would amount to an admission of guilt by the church over an incident it was ‘wrongly accused of’.

LEADERSHIP recalls that KWARTMA officers had clamped over five vehicles of the church members citing a breach of the traffic rules. The traffic body had also alleged assault of some of its members while trying to enforce the penalties of the said breach by the members of the church.

But in its statement, the church denied any allegation of assault of the KWARTMA officers  by its members.

The church said it took the intervention of the special adviser on Religious Matters ( Christianity),  Rev. Timothy  Akangbe to prevent what could have led to the escalation of the crisis.

It reiterated its commitment to harmonious and peaceful co- existence in the state.
