Gombe House Of Assembly Pledges Support For AGILE Project

The Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewo has restated the support of the  state legislature for the  Implementation of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project  in Gombe State.

He stated this when a team led by the Project Coordinator Dr. Amina Haruna Abdul paid the legislators an advocacy visit.

Hon Luggerewo said the Gombe State House of Assembly  has promulgated laws on Child Right and Child Protection Acts with a view to giving the adolescent children both girls and boys free access to Education, Health care services and other social amenities like any other children in the country.

The speaker, therefore assured the support of the Gombe State House of Assembly in the full implementation of the project for the benefit of the citizenry.

Hon Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewo then commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the expression of interest on the project and appointment of experienced hands as the State Project Implementation members.

Earlier, the coordinator Dr. Amina Haruna Abdul said the visit is part of the project’s sensitization to the key stakeholders and described members of the state assembly as strong partners in the implementation of the project in the state.

Dr Amina highlighted on the three key components of the project and called on the legislators to support the project for the benefit of the adolescent girls in the state.

She also informed them that with the Commissioner of Education Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari as Chairperson of the State Steering Committee of the project, the SPIU will work as a team to ensure the proper implementation of the project in line with the policies and programs of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to address challenges bedeviling girls child education in the state.
