Speaking at the event, the prelate of  Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Oliver Aba extolled the centre for its mental health advocacy and humanitarian services.

He assured that the church will continue to support the Amudo Integrated Community Mental Foundation, the arm of the church in charge of the centre.

Aba, who was on pastoral tour of Abia State commended the director of the centre, the Very Rev Kenneth Nwubani and his team for their efforts to bring succour to the inmates.

Similarly, the archbishop of Umuahia Diocese of the church, Dr Raphael Opoko said the over 35 years centre had became one of the best in mental healthcare in the country.

The erstwhile secretary of conference of the church used the forum to commend the director for his positive initiatives since he assumed office at the centre 22 years ago.

Earlier in his address, Nwubani, while welcoming the prelate and his entourage, assured that the centre will continue to discharge its duties to the best of its ability.

He said the centre had engaged in agriculture and other self-help efforts to sustain itself and appealed for support from public spirited individuals and organizations.

Other activities were laying of foundation stone of the center’s ultramodern indoor recreation centre, facility tour, and dedication of a newly donated Hilux van to the centre by the prelate.
