The development followed the Thursday’s dissolution of the five Emirate Councils in the State and the removal of their their Emirs appointed by former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

At the time of filing this report, two prominent kingmakers were seen arrival the Government House, Kano. They were led to the Governor’s office by Chief of Staff to the Governor, Shehu Wada Shagagi.

Among them were Alhaji Yusuf Nabahani, the Madakin Kano and head of the kingmakers, and Makaman Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Sarki Ibrahim.

Governor Abba Yusuf is said to be in a closed-door meeting with the State’s legislators.

LEADERSHIP reports that the lawmakers earlier on Thursday repealed the State’s Emirates law enacted by former Governor Ganduje in 2019 that had led to the appointment of the five Emirs, restructuring the old Kano Emirate configuration.
