Former first lady of Imo State, Dr Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, has emphasized that women remain the catalyst for positive change and socio-economic development in the country.

Dr Okorocha stated this while addressing newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital, advising that the society gives them a chance in the socio-political landscape.

She noted that women are valuable asset to the society and if properly harnessed would result in optimal productivity.

The former first lady revealed that she is organisig a five-day meeting tagged ‘2024 WODDI Summit’ beginning on Monday that would attract over 400 women from all walks of life from within and outside Nigeria.

The ‘Women of Divine Destiny Initiative (WODDI)’ is Dr Okorocha’s brainchild to chaperon women to occupy their God-given positions.

Commenting on why she is organising the event in Imo State, she said, “I am passionate about the woman. I’m passionate about the family, about anything that has to do with society at the national and all levels. My heart centres on the woman.”

The maiden mega edition of the summit took place at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja with the theme, “Inspired to be the Complete Woman.”

On empowerment, she said, “mindset is everything; something that can put them in position to be able to put food on their tables, to know what is happening everywhere, not just in Nigeria. At the end of the summit, the world will know that the woman is capable of filling the gap God has asked her to fill; to make her win.”

Dr Okorocha who spoke glowingly about the upcoming summit said the first edition had inspired a number of women and prevented them from committing suicide or throwing in the towel over life’s challenges as the summit made them to begin to have a rethink, to understand that they have what it takes to face the vicissitudes of life with equanimity.
