Stanbic IBTC Urges Youths To Imbibe Discipline, Dedication In Career Building

Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, has urged Nigerian youths to imbibe the culture of discipline and dedication in their career building.

This was disclosed at the annual Stanbic IBTC Youth Leadership Series (YLS) held in Lagos, which was created to upskill and empower young people to become future leaders and entrepreneur. The seventh edition of the programme was themed ‘The Growth Code: Unlocking the Secrets and Strategies to Personal and Professional Success’.

Speaking, chief executive, Stanbic Holdings, Dr. Demola Sogunle explained “how he started his career journey at Stanbic IBTC in 1989 and the opportunities the organisation gave him”, pointing out that youth between the ages of 16 to 35 have unbelievable capacity to do multiple things with focus and determination.

He encouraged the youths not to stop continuous learning and should not get too comfortable on a particular role and be very truthful to themselves.

According to him, you start a journey with an end in mind. certificate is not the issue, but the knowledge you have been able to extract from the institution

During the panel session, actress Bisola Aiyeola and a youth development advocate, Oyinkansola Oni discussed hacking the growth code in the chosen career, encouraging the youths to have self-confidence and believe in their imagination and constantly prove themselves anywhere they go.

Also popular content creator, Salem King, and interior decorator, Omon Anenih, while speaking on the catalyst to run a successful business in this current terrain, encouraged participants to always start a journey with the end in mind and always find time to take a break in order to recharge.

On how to monetise social media, Salem King, urged young content creators to prioritise their audience and ensure it enhances their lives, saying that content creation is not charity work and always put your audience in mind and create things that add value to their lives.

Other highlights of the event were the announcement of the Stanbic IBTC scholarship program which would open soon. According to manager of Data, Platform and Growth Marketing, Stanbic IBTC, Adetutu Adeniji, explained that “students who got 250 in their UTME and five credits in their O’level exams would be able to apply for the scholarships on the Bank platform.

She said last year, the Bank sponsored 200 students with a scholarship programme worth N80 million.
