As President Bola Tinubu marks his first anniversary in office on May 29, the archbishop metropolitan and the primate of All Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev Henry Ndukuba, has called on the Nigerian leader to sack non-performing ministers.

Ndukuba who made the call yesterday when he addressed journalists during his episcopal visit to All Saints Anglican Church in Abuja, congratulated President Tinubu, Vice President Ibrahim Shettima and his cabinet members for their one-year anniversary celebration.

The primate said that although it has not been easy, and some things have not been brought under control, Nigeria is going in a very good direction.

He said, “So, the troubles and problems in the last 30 years cannot be corrected in one year. I still plead with Nigerians to let every hand be on deck. Let us work together to salvage this nation.

“Also, corruption must be fought, insecurity must be dealt with, grinding poverty that people cannot even feed themselves and hopelessness and helplessness of the people must be tackled.

“We commend them for what they have done so far, but we are thinking that those ministers that are not performing should be called to order. If by the second year, they are not doing well, there is no need to continue with them, let him change the team and bring fresh hands to move the administration forward.”
Ndukuba, while speaking on the episcopal visit, said that they are celebrating the Trinity Sunday, that they are worshipping God who has revealed Himself as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and demonstrated to them the unity that is within the Godhead.

“God has created us as beings with body, soul and spirit and all these things work together, that when there is trouble with one, the person will not be healthy.

“This love binding the unity is something Nigeria must learn from. In our nation, if we will work together as one unity, we should be concerned for one another in love. Bearing one another, respecting one another, honouring one another and recognizing the good in one another and every part of this country.

“The diversity in our nation is not meant to destroy us. It is meant to unite us, and for each diversity to contribute to our oneness and our special nature as a nation. So, we encourage ourselves to learn from the very nature of God,” he said.
