Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas on Tuesday lunched the distribution of 250 tractors to farmers across the sixteen local government and two development areas of the state.

The tractors were purchased by the state government through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to ease both rainy and dry season farming activities in the state.

Launching the tractors, Governor Kefas described farmers as the heartbeat of the state’s economy and charged those distributing the tractors to ensure that the tractors get to the desired farmers on time to help them make good use of them.

“Today, we mark a significant milestone in our journey towards agricultural prosperity of dedicated service and progress in our state. I am delighted to announce the launch as we celebrate one year in office.

“This pivotal moment is not just about unveiling machinery, it is about sowing the seeds of hope, progress and a brighter future for all our farmers,” Governor Kefas said.

He added that, “Though we have all the potential, yet for too long now, our farmers are faced with numerous challenges from inadequate farming tools.”

Earlier in his opening speech, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Prof. Nicholas Namessan said the ministry has already fashioned out means of even distribution of the tractors to genuine farmers across the state without hitches.
