President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law.

The Bill seeks a return to the old national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” sung at independence, to replace the current “Arise O Compatriots” version.

Recall the Bill was abruptly passed into law by both the Senate and the House of Representatives last week.

This is even as the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, few days ago expressed his objection to the hasty passage of the Bill by the National Assembly without the buy-in of Nigerians through a public hearing.
