Edo State All Progressives Congress, APC weekend received a boost as members of the Dan Orbih-led legacy group of the Peoples Democratic Party in Egor local government area collapsed into the APC at the party’s secretariat.
Leading the defectors, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Nosa Adams said the entire executive members in the 10 wards of the council and their supporters are ready to work and ensure victory for the governorship candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo and his running mate, Hon Dennis Idahosa in the September 21st governorship election.
Nosa Adams assured the APC that Egor will deliver over 20, 000 votes to the APC noting that their integration process into the APC will commence immediately in the task of winning the governorship election for the APC.
An elated Oshiomhole expressed joy while welcoming the defectors into the APC and noted that under the governorship of Okpebholo, Edo State shall rise again, and development will be felt in all the nooks and crannies.
He said, “APC will return to the governance of Edo, and of course, our next governor knows where to start. He doesn’t need to touchlight, he can see all the things that have stopped, and he will reignite the engine of growth and development in this great state.
“I am particularly excited by the transparent manner in which Nosa Adams introduced the ward’s executives, so nobody is left. I want to assure you that those who came with you will be properly integrated. You are not a stranger in the house and cannot be treated like a stranger.
“What we need today is the man who can do, not the man who can talk. If talk could change Nigeria, Nigeria would have been more than America. When I was contesting, some people said I didn’t have a primary school certificate, but I knew that we needed a beautiful hospital, that erosion is bad, that a red roof is good for the children of the poor, and that the way to keep the party together is to respect elders and rebuild,” he said.
The APC governorship candidate, Sen Monday Okpebholo, described the development as a ‘miracle’ and noted that Edo is witnessing a new era that will usher in great development.
“What I am seeing is a miracle and amazing. I want to thank Adams Oshiomhole and all the people present here today. A new Edo is rising and is witnessing a new era. Edo will soon witness massive development. We don’t have any other home; we must come together to develop it,” he said.
The acting chairman of the APC, Jarret Tenebe, who formally received the PDP defectors, assured them of equal opportunity and expressed optimism that the APC would take over Osadebey Avenue, the seat of power, come the September governorship election.
