Participants Call For More Women Inclusion In Skills Acquisition

Participants at the just concluded 15th Delegates Conference of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTOB) have called for more women in skills acquisition in the country.

The participants also described “targeted education and capacity building” as veritable tools in tackling hardship and unemployment in the country.

They reiterated that targeted education whereby people are trained for proper skills acquisition, especially among women, would go a long way to prune unemployment and hardship in the land.

According to them, teamwork can only be used when both men and women are equipped with necessary skills and emphasized the need for more participation of women in all fields.

Describing inflation as a great threat against industrialisation, they charged the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to tackle the problem of high cost of living.

They reiterated that the high cost of production is denying customers from buying products that were produced at high rate hence manufacturers and retailers are recording many unsold products.

Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Mr Matthew Izediuno and Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Mohammed Sarkiyo, in their separate presentations sought the partnership of labour unions in tackling abuses by expatriates in workplaces, especially those doing the jobs that many qualified Nigerians do.

 

On his part, the managing director of Nestle Nigeria Plc, Mr Wassim Elhusseini advised the federal government to diversify energy and invest in boosting local resources to save the food and beverage industry from collapse.
