Netizens Excited For Brymo In Netflix’s The King’s Horseman Trailer Release

Two weeks after Netflix’s trailer release of The King’s Horseman netizens continue to express their delight for the Wole Soyinka adapted play, and in particular for music artiste, Brymo who stars in the film.

Directed by the late acclaimed fiction writer and filmmaker, Biyi Bandele and produced by Ebony Life Films, the film brings to the screen the tale of Elesin Oba, the King’s horseman who is culturally mandated to commit ritual suicide as means of sending forth the spirit of his master to the otherworld. A certain action of his prior to his sacrifice led to drastic consequences not just for his family but his community.

The screen adaptation of the classic Yoruba play features veteran actors as Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Joke Silva, Jide Kosoko, Deyemi Okonlawon, Omowunmi Dada, Shaffy Bello as Iyaloja and Odunlade Adekola as the protagonist Elesin Oba.

However, the cast addition who got netizens more excited is music artist, Olawale Brymo Olofore as the praise singer whose captivating voice sings the background music in trailer. To them, the brilliant artist is finally getting his due in the entertainment industry.

‘‘I thought I heard Brymo at the end there? I’m so glad. So, so happy to hear him again. This looks like a movie to add to the ‘must watch’ list,” said Nonkululeko Mbalu.

“I’m so pumped for this! But the highlight for me is Brymo! … So glad he’s finally getting the recognition that’s long overdue,” commeted Kaphy.

“The highlight for me is the use of Brymo’s music. Such unique African voice. Also, this is a masterpiece. Tribute to Biyi and kudos to all cast and crew, plus Netflix.’’

Others hoped the film meets the approval its author Soyinka.

It will be recalled that the film’s Director, Biyi Bandele passed away on August 7, 2022 at the age of 54, days after the trailers release. Fans and netizens mourned his while praising the superb last offering to the Nigerians and literature enthusiasts.
