The Award was conferred on him at the 19th Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD)/Induction and Fellowship Investiture of the Institute, recently organized in Lagos with the theme: “Chemical Risk and Vulnerability Assessment for the Chemical Industry in Nigeria”.

Obadimu’s contributions, including sponsorship of both students and professionals, grants to support research and skills development, speedy facilitation of collaborations with relevant stakeholders, and lecturing chemistry in the University for more than 12 years pro bono, earned him the Award.

Speaking at the event, the Registrar/CEO of ICCON, Chemist Wilford Jwalshik, said the Chemistry Ambassador Award is specifically given to respected Chemists who have contributed significantly to the practice and growth of chemistry worldwide.

He commended the Ambassador Awardee for his unalloyed support, commitment, and contributions to promoting the practice of chemistry, which he said will continue to positively impact the ongoing efforts to protect public health and safeguard the environment.

While reiterating the Institute’s commitment to ensuring that chemistry and chemistry-related positions in the chemical industry are strictly occupied by licensed Chemists, the ICCON Registrar assured members that the implementation of the new regulation will soon take effect.

Chemist Jwalshik, therefore, solicited more support and dedication from other Fellows and Members (individual or corporate) in achieving the desired changes in the Chemistry-related industries in Nigeria. He said positive engagements with members can guarantee tremendous progress and contribute to national and global development.
