Yobe Governor, UNDP Meet Over Regional Stabilisation Project

The Yobe State governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni has met with the officials of the United Nations Development Programme 7th project stabilisation facility in Abuja.

The governor while speaking during a board meeting at the UN house in Abuja commended the UNDP for sustaining their developmental support and partnership on the stabilization and development of Yobe state and the North East in general.

A statement from the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor Hussaini Mai Sule said, Buni was represented at the meeting by his deputy Hon Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune).
The governor who enumerated the challenges faced by Yobe over Boko Haram insurgency, expressed happiness that due concerted efforts by the state, federal and other development partners, peace and stability is gradually being restored to the state.

He restated that Yobe remained determined to sustain the gains in the area of resettling conflict victims for swift recovery and accelerated development.

“Our commitments to security in the last five years has resulted in remarkable progress in various sectors that include healthcare delivery, education, agriculture, social infrastructure and human capital development. We have also prioritized social welfare and security by ensuring that our citizens live in a safe environment.

“Collaborative effort can make a significant difference in rebuilding their lives, restoring their livelihood and strengthening the region against future threats.

The residence representative, UNDP Ms Elsie Attafuah has while speaking said the project initiated in September 2019 was one of the four national windows of the regional lake Chad basin stabilization facility, along with Chad, Cameroon and Niger respectively.

“The RSF began by formulating joint action plans (JAPs) with long stakeholders to support security, basic services provision, and livelihood in target communities that had been devastated by the conflict.”

The meeting was attended by the head of stabilisation UNDP, residence representative, Representative of IGP, Minister of Budget and Planning, Governors of the North East among others.
