Eid-el-Kabir: Governor Otu Calls For Unity, Compassion

Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu has urged the Muslim faithful to imbibe the values of sacrifice, unity, and compassion as necessary ingredients to build a more significant and prosperous Cross River State and, by extension, Nigeria.

In a goodwill message released by his special adviser on media and publicity, Mr Linus Obogo, to mark the Id-el Kabir celebration, Governor Otu stressed the significance of the occasion, noting that “it serves as a reminder of the diverse and resilient state that every one of us is a part of.”

The governor noted, “It is a time for reflection on shared traditions and aspirations that bind us together.”
While emphasising the teachings of Eid-el Kabir, which included selflessness and empathy, Otu urged Cross Riverians to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate in emulating the ultimate sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim.

The governor who called for togetherness also offered encouragement: “As a community of people, we must come together by casting aside tendencies that seek to divide us, as that is the only way we can transmit values of generosity, kindness, and peace to future generations.”

Governor Otu expressed gratitude for being the servant-leader of such an exceptional state and thanked Cross Riverians for their unwavering support and belief in his administration.

“As Muslims, your support is as critical as any adherent of other faiths. Against this background, I thank you and ask for your prayers so we can achieve as a collective.”
Otu reminded the Eid-el-Kabir celebrants to remember those less fortunate during the celebrations by extending love and care to make a positive difference in their lives.
