Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Oyo State has called on the government at all levels and other stakeholders in the education sector to take proactive steps to reduce the number of out-of-school children in the country.

NAWOJ, in a statement issued by its chairperson, Mrs Omolola Alamu and the secretary, Mrs Eniola Adeaga, on the “Day of the African Child”, said there should be equity and fairness in the education system to make it accessible to all children without any barrier.

They called for collaboration among all stakeholders to make policies to enhance children’s education.

Congratulating African children on this year’s occasion, the women journalists acknowledged their resilience in the face of the challenging economy.

NAWOJ also charged Muslims to continue to live in peace and unity for the progress of Nigeria.

The association gave the charge in its Sallah message yesterday.

Alamu said the Eid-el-Kabir celebration was a period of sacrifice, love and total obedience to the will of Allah as exemplified by holy Prophet Mohammed.

The association urged Muslims and other Nigerians to continue to pray for leaders for divine knowledge and guidance for the advancement of the country.
