In a traditional African society, parents often have a deep influence on the career choice of their children, predominantly as part of their responsibility to guide and raise them right. Queen Light found passion in dancing early in life. The love was so incurable that she attended a dancing school. She received her primary education at Project Nursery and Primary School, and her secondary education at Federal Government College Ikom, both in Cross River State, where she hails from. She proceeded to Cross River State University of Technology in Calabar, to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.

Queen Light is one of five siblings. Her attachment to arts and entertainment was further fuelled by digital revolution and according to her, it has been rewarding. She regularly churns out unique content and stands tall among the droves in her community of online acts. Her sense of fashion and creativity quickly made her a choice for fashion brands, to promote their identities and products.

The actress was not initially on the same page with her parents about her career choice from the outset. It took a promise before Queen Light convinced them of her ambition and choice.

“Queen Light’s background undoubtedly played a role in shaping her creative journey. Hailing from a traditional African family with clergy parents, her initial career choices in dance, acting, and fashion content creation may not have been readily embraced. This is understandable, given the potential concerns about navigating the entertainment industry. However, Queen Light persevered. She communicated her passion and commitment to her parents, assuring them that she would maintain a positive and responsible presence within the creative world. Her dedication and clear vision eventually earned their full support, allowing her to pursue her artistic aspirations,” Queen Light stated.

Delight Ushie is one of fast-growing content creators in the country, commanding huge followership on Instagram and TikTok. She highlighted the endless opportunities and leverage social media has afforded her to showcase degrees of her talents.

“Queen Light’s creative journey began in her childhood, fueled by a lifelong passion for dance. Inspired by the positive impact of other dancers, she actively pursued her passion, enrolling in a dance academy and even considering opening her own studio. However, a new platform emerged: social media. Recognizing its potential, Queen Light began utilising social media to showcase her dancing talent and entertain a global audience. This digital foray naturally incorporated another of Queen Light’s strengths, fashion,” she explained.

“My keen sense of style shines through in my video content, subtly conveying the message that fashion-consciousness is empowering and can be a valuable asset. My artistic spirit extends beyond dance and fashion. My acting roots trace back to my participation in the drama club during her primary school years. This experience nurtured a talent for acting that continues to bring her enjoyment and allows her to further connect with audiences,” she said.

Queen Light disclosed that she finds Funke Akindele’s creative story as an inspiration in her quest for stardom.
