The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in collaboration with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) have called for submissions to its short film competition combatting human trafficking in Nigeria.
The competition aims at using audio-visual’s capacity to educate and raise public’s awareness on the subject, but also create empathy, foster dialogue and guide people to take action on this multi-layered phenomenon.
A committee comprised of experts on migration, counter-trafficking, film and media including the jury -Nigerian filmmakers, Judith Audu and founder, Bluhouse Studios, Lagos, Uzoma Blessing Chibuike, will select the top submissions in the competition’s two main categories Popular Vote and Official Competition.
Deadline for submissions is July 14, 2024, whilst the announcement of winners will coincide with World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30, 2024.
