Collapsed Mines: Host communities Seek Probe, Prosecution Of Site Owners

The Niger State Chapter of the Federation of Nigeria Mining Host Communities has called for investigation and prosecution of owners of collapsed mining sites where workers were recently trapped in the state.

The Federation in a communiqué signed by its Chairman, Habibu Wushishi and the Secretary, Mohammed Mohammed after its meeting in Minna, said that any of the the companies found culpable of using members of the host communities as cheap labour without safety measures should be prosecuted.

It noted with concern the collapse mining pits in Galkogo in Shiroro local government area where over 30 people were trapped early this month and the second incident where three persons were killed in Adunni area of Paikoro local government area, both in NIger state
