Ebonyi Govt Erects Pillars To End Border Dispute

Ebonyi State government has erected pillars at the border land for the two communities of Amana and Ohankwu in Ezza South and Ikwo local government areas of the state to end the boundary dispute between the two communities.

There has been an age-long communal crisis between the people of Amana and Ohankwu communities which has led to the death of many persons and the destruction of properties worth millions of naira.
The state commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mr Donatus Ilang who spoke with LEADERSHIP Sunday after inspecting the erection of the pillar maintained that the it would bring lasting peace in the area.

Mr Ilang explained that the team was in the border community to inspect the pillars erected by the Ministry of Lands adding that the state government decided to take the bold step to ensure that the crisis rocking the two communities comes to an end.
He thanked the implementation committee constituted by the state governor, Francis Nwifuru for their performance adding that the pillars would remain significant in the mind of the people.

He enjoined the two councilors representing the communities to spread the message of peace across their wards and appreciated the stakeholders for their cooperation in ensuring that the decision of the state governor was achieved by the committee.
