Oyo Health Workers Declare 7-day Warning Strike

Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria, Oyo State chapter, has declared a seven-day warning strike to press for its demands.

The chairman of the union, Comrade John Fabunmi, in a letter titled, “Notification of Industrial Action” issued in Ibadan”, said the warning strike followed the expiration of 14 days ultimatum issued to the state government for its attention to attend to the union’s agitation.

Fabunm said members of the medical and health workers’ union of Nigeria in health institutions, ministries, departments and local governments in the state are to proceed on the seven days warning strike as from 12:01 am, midnight on Monday 24th June, 2024.

The letter reads, “Sequel to our letter with Ref. No. OYSC/MHWUN/ADM/INDU.ACT/05/24 dated 27th May, 2024 on the above subject matter giving the State government a 14 day ultimatum to attend to all our grievances, we wish to draw the attention of Your Excellency to the fact that up till now nothing has been done to assuaged the present situation.

“In view of the present situation and agitations from every quarter in our union, the union has therefore resolved to embark on a seven-day warning strike to further press for the government’s attention to attend to our agitations.

 

 

 

“All our members in all health institutions, ministries, departments and all local governments will be participating in the seven (7) days warning strike which will commence on 12:01am midnight of Monday 24th June, 2024, after which further actions may be embarked upon”.
