Provost, College of Health Technology, Ilesa, Dr Lateef Olarewaju Raheem, has pleaded with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to employ 70 contract staff of the institution.

The provost who made the appeal while fielding questions from journalists in his office said the governor should extend his kind gesture to the workers by normalising their employment that was long overdue.

It would be recalled that Adeleke recently approved full employment to no fewer than 230 contract staff of University of Ilesa and freelance staff of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC).

The provost also called on the federal government to enlist Monotechnics across the country among the institutions that can benefit from Tetfund projects.

He noted that since these institutions like their counterparts in polytechnic education are offering courses equivalent to national and higher national diploma levels, they should be granted the right of space in the scheme.

The provost who identified funding as the major challenge of the institution, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his support for the citadel of knowledge but pleaded with illustrious sons and daughters of Ijesaland to come to the aid of the school.

Raheem who is the pioneer substantive provost of the college established since 1977 noted that his administration’s efforts that led to the movement of the institution from being an appendage of Ministry of Health to Ministry of Education facilitated tremendous progress for the institution.

According to him his administration was able to print out over 20,000 accumulated certificates that were stalled due to bureaucratic bottleneck since 2016 adding that lack of certificate had denied many graduates of the institution opportunities to access higher ground before the exercise

The provost noted with satisfaction that despite the volatility of Ilesa, the institution has been able to curtailed activities of cultists on the school campus largely because the school maintained discipline.
