Our Correspondent reports that a fire broke out yesterday’s afternoon at a section of the refinery located near Lekki, Lagos.

Emergency services responded swiftly to contain the incident, and according to initial reports, no injuries have been sustained.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and investigations are underway to determine the extent of the damage and what led to the incident.

“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP), today Wednesday 26th of June,” chief corporate communications officer at Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Dangote emphasised that the incident did not disrupt operations at their refinery.

“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty,” Chiejina said.

The Dangote Refinery is a massive project under construction with a projected refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.
