Governor of Gombe State Inuwa Yahaya has suspended the village head of Garin Majidadi, Mohammed Majidadi and councilor, Abdullahi Panda, representing Kumo east ward in Akko local government over involvement in an alleged theft of an electricity transformer.
The suspension was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi yesterday, citing the Gombe State Local Government (Amendment) Law, 2013 to back the suspension.
The councilor and village head were paraded by the police and are facing trial for conspiracy in the theft at Garin Majidadi.
“The suspension is a preventive measure to ensure no interference in the legal process. Governor Inuwa Yahaya reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the rule of law and expressed confidence that justice will prevail.”, a press statement by the SSG said.
