Maritime firm, Menal Technical Services Limited has said it is bringing in vessels to boost its operation in the sector and to contribute to the nation’s economy.

It said the move was to meet the transportation demand and the ambition of developing the blue economy.

The company’s Managing Director, Mr. Temile Joshua in a statement said, “Due to the volatility and the perceived insecurity of the Nigerian maritime space, many international ship owners and operators either exclude Nigeria from trade or actively avoid sending their vessels to the region.

“At the same time, the Nigerian maritime space is in need of modern, reliable and compliant to international standards merchant vessels, of all types, in order to meet the transportation demand and the ambition of developing the blue economy.

“Our Joint Venture is comprised by a number of prominent Greek ship owners who have committed to making a number of their vessels available for charter in Nigeria.

“The vessels made available are both tankers and bulk carriers ranging from 17K DWT – 150K DWT and built from 2003 – 2010 in shipyards from Japan, S. Korea and China.

“The total fleet is 21 Tankers and 6 Bulkers and all are immediately available to be deployed to Nigeria.”
