Property Agents and Landlord Association of Nigeria (PALAN), Jigawa State, has rejected the alleged move by the state government to take over their business of selling and renting houses and other landed properties in the state.

The spokesperson of the association, Alhaji Lawan Hassan stated this while speaking with journalists in Dutse.

He explained that the association was invited to a meeting with the state commissioner of Land and Regional planning where they were informed about a plan to ban them from issuing witness receipts in any transactions of sale or rent of houses, plots and other landed properties.

“However, we were told that government will be solely responsible for issuing such a receipt. This is technically a step toward eliminating us from the business and we will resist it.

“Based on the available information, the state governor, Malam Namadi is not aware of the said plan, and we believe he will never be a party to any move to deny people their legal means of livelihood,” he said.
