The Cross River State government has unveiled an agro-tourism festival known as CRATFEX to boost the state tourism sector and also attract income to the state.

The state commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Abubakar Ewa who unveiled the project maintained that with the unveiling of CRATFEX, the number of tourists who will troop to the state would increase and lauded organisers of the event for the initiative.

Chief executive officer of CRATFEX, Asurock Integrated Service, Mr ASU Abang, stated that the aim is to build a strong food system that will fight hunger and starvation in the land.

Abang averred that when the programme becomes fully operational, hunger and starvation would be a thing of the past.

The event was themed, “Building Stronger Food Systems to Strengthen Resilience on the Fight Against Hunger in Nigeria,” with a sub-theme, “Harmonising Agriculture, Arts, Culture and Tourism Development for Sustainable Development.”

The CEO advocated prioritisation of agriculture if hunger is to be well-tackled.

“I welcome you all to the official unveiling of the Cross River Agrotourism Festival and International Expo, fondly known as CRATFEX.
