The management of Comfort Stevens Nigeria Limited, Aba, has said its 15,000 daily capacity footwear factory in Owerrinta, Abia State will be ready for commissioning in December this year.

Chief executive officer of the company, John Nwankwo stated this when he led his partners from the US, China and Brazil on a visit to the governor, Alex Otti in the state to inform him about the factory.

“With the wealth of experience our foreign partners are bringing in, I want to assure you that our products will compete favourably in both local and global markets,” he said.

Nwankwo noted that the factory machines and their components had arrived at the site and were waiting for their installation to commence next month.

He congratulated and commended the governor for his successful one year in office, adding that his administration had created an improved business environment in the state.

Responding, Otti underlined the importance of such a manufacturing outfit in the state, saying no economy had ever developed by depending on imported products without local production.

“One of the major things our administration is putting in much effort to achieve is attracting both local and foreign investors through favourable policies and incentives,” the governor said.

He expressed delight that one of the programmes the company will bring aboard is training of existing local shoe manufacturers in the state and assured of the government’s support to the company.

“We have been doing our best to make the state friendlier for business growth. We have also not only been receiving new investors but have been urging those that relocated elsewhere to return.”
