The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede has stated that the commission has raised a disciplinary team to probe the case of two of its officers seen in a viral video allegedly assaulting a female manager during a raid of Regional Hotel, in the Ojo area of Lagos State.

EFCC, in a statement by its Head, Media & Publicity, Dele Oyewale disclosed this Sunday evening on the verified X (formerly Twitter) handle of the agency, saying the officers are billed to appear before a disciplinary team.

Oyewale remarked that the officers were sighted in a viral video assaulting the staff of the hotel in an early morning sting operation on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

Consequently, the EFCC boss ordered the arrest of the two officers and directed them to appear before a joint Disciplinary Team comprising the Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee, and the Department of Ethics and Integrity.

According to the post, “They are billed to appear before the team on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Corporate Headquarters of the Commission, Abuja.

“The team would look into the case of the officers and recommend appropriate disciplinary measures to be taken against them.”

Meanwhile, Olukoyede stressed that no stone will be left unturned in getting the officers to account for their unprofessional conduct.

Recall that officials of the anti-graft agency, in a sting operation, allegedly assaulted a lady with guests of the hotel for alleged cyber crimes offenses.

Different reactions have however trailed the viral video from X users who have been critical of the EFCC officials’ mode of operations bordering on assaulting wrong persons.
