The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has explained that controversial social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan or VDM was not arrested as being reported but only invited for questioning by the Police.

The FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement on Sunday evening, said the social media influencer has since been released after giving his statement regarding a matter involving him.

LEADERSHIP had earlier reported on Sunday that the vocal VDM was re-arrested by the FCT Police Command over alleged defamation following an alarm raised by his counsel and Abuja-based lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.

But, the FCT Police Command denied Adeyanju’s claim.

Part of the Police statement stated that, “contrary to the news making the rounds about the alleged arrest of Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as Verydarkman or VDM by the police, the FCT police command wishes to clarify that Verydarkman was not arrested by the police but was only invited for questioning on the allegations of cyber stalking, cyber bullying and defamation of character.

“He has since been released after voluntarily giving his statement on the allegations.”
