The Anglican Bishop of the Diocese on The Lake, Rt Rev. Chijioke Oti, has asked Nigerian leaders and followers to consider where they will spend eternity after they depart from the earth.

Quoting Hebrews 9, the cleric admonished Nigerians to reflect on their lifestyle, relationship with man and God and the life after.
Bishop Oti said it would amount to double jeopardy if, after suffering in this world, one finds himself in hell fire and described death as a price that every mortal must pay.

Oti spoke at the weekend amid the pomp and pageantry in Achi, Mbieri community in Mbaitoli local government area, Imo State, where former deputy governor of the state, Prince Eze Madumere, buried the matriarch of the family and mother, Ugoeze Malinda Chikanele Madumere.

His words, “Death is a misery and a price everybody must pay. This is where God is greater than every human being. We urge the will of God to be done in our lives. We cannot run away from death.”
The clergyman submitted that there is life after death, and what is important to humanity is an eternal life of glory without sorrow and pain.

He said, “The life we live does not belong to us. God gave us this life; we must choose between everlasting life and hell fire.”

Bishop Oti described the deceased as a true woman of God, adding that she was full of the fear of God and an embodiment of humility and truthfulness, noting that she had positively affected those who came in contact with her with love and compassion.

The Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, graced the ceremony; the former governor, Hon Emeka Ihedioha; the deputy governor, Dr Chinyere Ekomaru, Hon. Uche Onyeagocha; Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi; former NUJ chairman Fidel Onyeneke, former commissioner Hon. Kezie Ogazechi, Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru, and a host of others.

The governor highlighted that Ugoeze Madumere lived a life worthy of emulation and urged the citizenry to emulate the same.
According to him, Ugoeze Madumere was God-fearing and a devoted Christian, indicating she was a shining light to the society.

The governor, who the deputy governor represented, Lady Ekomaru, urged Nigerians to always live a life worthy of emulation and a legacy that will enable society and prosperity to remember them with fun memories.

Madumere described the mother as a leader, special adviser, advocate and a rallying point in the family and community.

He highlighted that the mother, Ugoeze Madumere, was a jewel of inestimable value and a role model who positively impacted the lives of those who came in contact with her.
He revealed that she was a lover of humanity who took a particular interest in issues concerning the less privileged and vulnerable in society.

“We will miss the Ugoeze greatly, and this was evident in the vacuum her demise has created in the family, community and Imo State. We cannot question God.
“We must imbibe and emulate the good virtues and qualities she left behind. All mortals must pay this price. What is important is the values and virtues left behind,” he added.
