The Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA) has trained 150 enumerators on validation and evaluation of the state’s contributory health insurance scheme and also distributed 500 insurance cards to the beneficiaries.

The director general of the KADCHMA, Abubakar Hassan, disclosed that the essence of the training is to present contextual information on the scheme’s Vulnerable Population Programme (VVP).

According to him, the training was to sensitize the VVP beneficiaries on creating awareness on the benefits and eligibility for the scheme.

“The enumerators are to administer the scheme’s validation tool, conduct focus group discussion and use survey to obtain responses from beneficiaries. They will carry out field visits to test-run validation tool and survey”.

The director-general said “Kaduna State is giving out one per cent of the consolidated revenue towards

ensuring that vulnerable groups are covered. These vulnerable groups include pregnant women, children under five years, the aged and people living with disabilities”.

“It is important that we are proactive to enroll more people into the scheme so that when government increases funding for health insurance, we will just empower those already enrolled”.

In the same vain, Hassan also disclosed that the 500 beneficiaries were drawn from Kaduna South  Federal constituency, courtesy of  lawmaker Muktar Monrovia, he said.

He advised the beneficiaries to make use of the cards by going to their selected health facilities to access health services and to also keep it safe.

Hon. Murtar Monrovia said vulnerable, Persons With Disability (PWDs), and pregnant women are his priority in improving their health, he added.

He said that the decision to enrol the beneficiaries followed the challenges in the health sector, especially as they affect the grassroots, adding that the enrollment will boost the informal sector.
