Okorie noted that the recapitalisation scheme would make Abuja a modern city with safe, efficient and world-class transportation system.

He added that the scheme would also enable members of the association to have access to the taxi upon payment of 7 percent of total cost of the vehicle and to become proud owners of the taxis after 30 months.
The acting secretary, Transportation Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Usman Musa Yahaya, stated that the Taxi Recapitalisation Scheme adopted by the association would promote efficiency in taxi operations in the FCT and add professionalism to taxi services.

Represented by the director of legal services in the secretariat, Barr Hassan Oluremi, the acting secretary noted that the introduction of new taxis in the FCT would phase out rickety vehicles and entrench sanity on the roads.

He commended the association for the innovative and proactive approach it adopted in partnering with the Transportation Secretariat to close the gaps in provision of reliable and affordable transportation system in the FCT.
