Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, representing Gombe North in Gombe State, has trained and empowered 440 youths and women in various vocational skills.

Each beneficiary received a certificate of completion and a starter pack to support their newfound skills.

During the empowerment programme, Dankwambo urged the beneficiaries to use their skills to establish businesses and support their communities.

His former media aide, Malam Junaidu Usman Abubakar, disclosed this in a press statement yesterday,

He said,  “The future of our world rests in your hands, and we must ensure you are equipped with the tools, confidence, and opportunities necessary to shape a brighter tomorrow.”

He emphasised that empowering youth starts with education, not just conventional curriculum, but holistic education that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and resilience.

“We must create an environment where young minds can question, innovate, and excel. Access to quality education should be a right, not a privilege, and it is our collective responsibility to dismantle barriers that hinder this access.”

Continuing, he said, “Equally important is the cultivation of self-worth and leadership skills. We must encourage our youth to believe in their potential. Programs that promote leadership, community service, and real-world problem-solving can instil a sense of purpose and responsibility.

“By providing mentorship and role models, we can guide them toward making impactful contributions to society.

“We should harness the potential of digital tools to offer resources, connect young people across the globe, and expose them to diverse perspectives. However, we must also teach them to navigate this landscape responsibly, with a critical eye and an ethical mindset.

“Economic empowerment is another cornerstone. Young people should have access to job training, entrepreneurship programs, and financial literacy education. By fostering a culture of innovation and supporting start-ups, we can create a dynamic economy where the youth are not just participants but leaders.

“Let us remember that empowering youth is about preparing them for the future and acknowledging their power in the present. Their voices matter, their ideas are valuable, and their energy is indispensable. By involving them in decision-making processes and valuing their input, we create an inclusive and forward-thinking society.

“Empowering our youth is a collective effort that requires commitment, resources, and a shared vision. Together, let us build a world where every young person can thrive.”
