The Nigeria Police Force has emerged as the most improved organisation in the recent United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), ratings.

This was revealed by the UNODC team led by its acting Country Representative, Mr Danilo Campisi, during a visit to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun in Abuja on Friday.

At the meeting, Campisi expressed UNODC’s pleasure on the results derived from their recently conducted corruption survey.

The UNODC further revealed that the survey was carried out strictly based on facts and data, and not on perceptions.

Force Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, said “it is worthy of note that Nigeria is the only country to have carried out a third consecutive corruption survey, with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd happening in 2016, 2019 and 2024 respectively.”

Adejobi expressed satisfaction that the results from these surveys rated Nigeria as the country with the highest rate of improvement in the fight against corruption.

“This revealed fact indicated the significant growth of the country under its new leadership and consequently, the transformation of the Nigeria Police Force under the administration of the 22nd indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun,” the statement said.

Expressing sincere gratitude to the UNODC for their support and commending their efforts and mode of the survey, the IGP emphasised stated that the results of the survey would serve as motivation for the police to intensify its efforts in combating crime and corruption, and setting a greater standard.
