National president of Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA) Dr. Rakiya Abubakar, has distributed food and non-food items to 150 vulnerable groups comprising widows and persons with disabilities in Benue State.
Dr. Abubakar who made the distribution at the Air Force Base in Makurdi said the gesture aimed at reducing hunger and improving the livelihood of vulnerable groups was a continuation of NAFOWA’s programme of mental health talk/medical and humanitarian outreach across the country.
She said; “Today’s donation is in commemoration of my one year in office, and so far, 3,500 vulnerable Nigerians across the states visited have benefitted from the association’s initiative which is ongoing.”
While appealing to beneficiaries not to engage in criminal activities, she also urged them not to sell what was given to them as palliatives but make maximum use of the items to improve their livelihoods.
In a welcome address, NAFOWA chairperson, Tactical Air Command Makurdi, Osas Edosa, applauded Dr. Abubakar for her pragmatic leadership style of alleviating the plight of the vulnerable in the country, adding that this would go a long way in reducing the hardship they are going through.
The Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command Makurdi, Francis Edosa who described NAFOWA as a highly organised association commended them for always taking into cognizance the plight of the vulnerable groups in the country.
