The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth and Student Council have declared that the presidential candidate of the APC Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fit to contest the 2023 presidential election, adding that they want all Nigerian youths to adopt him as their consensus candidate.

According to the group, there is no medical report suggesting that Tinubu is incapable of contesting the 2023 presidential election.

While responding to questions when the group visited the chief campaigner of follow the money, Hamza Lawal, in preparation for the forthcoming general election, the director of the APC youths and students, directorate, Mazi Ezenwa Onyirimba, said they want Nigerian youths to adopt Tinubu as consensus candidate because he is fit.

“There is no certified report that shows Tinubu is not fit to govern the country. Until such a report, the man is fit to rule. I believe the youths will cue for Asiwaju because of what he has done for the youths, “ Onyirimba said.
Also speaking, the deputy director of the APC Youth and Student Council, Alhaji Tauheed Ozigi, said they want Hamzat Lawal to campaign for Tinubu and also mobilise youths to campaign for him.
“We want you to campaign for Tinubu.
working hard to make Tinubu a consensus candidate for the youth, “ Ozigi said.

Responding, Hamzat Lawal who said he had decided to go into partisan politics now that he turned 35, said he would be meeting with the Nigerian youths and other stakeholders to decide on the 2023 general elections.

Lawal said the youths can’t afford to be sidelined, adding that they must rise and face the challenges since Nigeria’s current leaders and their policies are not working, considering the level of insecurity.

“We cannot continue to work in silence. Your position is coming from a position of interest. What comes to me is Nigeria because I am from the civic group.

“I will listen to the youth as a listen to you but it’s the Nigerian people that will decide the 2023 general elections. My commitment is to deploy 20,000 observers in the 2023 general elections.

“We sent observers to Kenya. We must ensure we have young people to observe the election. Before the general elections, I might declare interest in a particular candidate, because every Nigerian with a voter card and above 18 years will vote for a candidate.

“One of the things I will be looking at is national coercion. We must stop the blame game. The older generation sees us as the problem, the youth also see the older generation as the problem. Who will provide the solution? What is the definition of youths? Before now 60-year-old people called themselves youths. Nigerian policy on youths says it is 18 to 29 years.

“So, sometimes I don’t see myself as a youth. I will speak to various groups and speak to the presidential candidates to know their definitions of what they call youths. We want a cabinet that looks like you and me, a youth cabinet.

“I want an inclusive president. What is the role of youth, women and other groups? My message to Nigerians is that let the campaign be issue-based, let’s discuss issues that affect our communities and our country. Let’s discuss Nigeria. My religion and ethnicity do not define who I am. What value are you bringing to the table, “ Lawal said.
