Katsina Elders Forum has expressed concern over the escalating poverty and insecurity in the state, calling on the federal government to take additional security measures to address the situation.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Sani Aliyu Muhammad who briefed newsmen in Katsina, stated that 12 local government areas in the state are facing kidnapping for ransom and killing daily. He also highlighted the widespread poverty that has forced people to beg on the streets and from door to door.

The elders decried the persistent insecurity in the north, saying, “Enough is enough,” and urged the government to take decisive action to end banditry. They demanded President Bola Tinubu to give the service chiefs a two -to three-week ultimatum to address the issue or resign.

Furthermore, the forum expressed objection to the same-sex agreement signed by the federal government, citing that it goes against their religious beliefs as Muslims and Christians in the state.

The elders’ call for action came as the state grapples with rising insecurity and poverty, with many residents living in fear of kidnapping and violence.
