“This milestone marks a new significance in our continued effort to conserve and preserve the cultural heritage and traditional institutions that are important for the unity of our beloved state.

“Let me say that the establishment of the three second class Emirates – Gaya Emirate, comprising Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu local governments, Rano Emirate comprising of Rano Kibiya and Bunkure local governments and the Karaye Emirate, comprising of Karaye and Rogo, is a testament to our commitment to recognise our traditional leadership that have played a pivotal role in the administration and development of our community.

“Our administration recognises the importance of traditional institutions in maintaining peace and development,” the governor stated on Tuesday.

The Bill was presented to the State governor by the Speaker of State House of Assembly, Jibril Falgore, at the Council Chamber of the Government House, Kano.

The Speaker thanked the state governor for cooperating with the State Assembly while promising to continue with the synergy.

“Your Excellency, this Bill, Kano State Emirate Councils Law 2024, 1446 AH, is already marked and we are here to get it assented.

“Your Excellency, if this Bill is signed into law, it will improve the economy of those Emirates. Not only improve the economy, it will also bring people closer to the government,” the Speaker said.

The new second class Emirs to administer the three Emirates will soon be announced to the public, the governor stated.
