Fresh facts have emerged that about 41 people lost their lives in the 90 crashes that occurred within three months across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.

The Ondo sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Ezekiel SonAllah, disclosed this to journalists in Akure, the state capital.

SonAllah said a total of 205 persons were injured, while 41 people were killed between April and June in the second quarter of the year 2024.

According to him, 365 persons were involved in the crashes in the past three months, while numerous traffic offenders were also arrested.

While noting that the corps has not relented in its efforts to reduce crashes on the highways and within the state, the FRSC boss called on the public to obey the traffic system.

He added that during the period under review, available statistics showed that both males and females were involved in crashes across the state, saying that the most prevalent causes of the crashes were speed limit violations, dangerous driving, and lack of concentration.

His words: “Road accidents that occurred in the state involved a total of 356 vehicles and 41 people were killed.

”I wish to call on the general motoring public to obey road traffic rules and regulations to avoid road traffic crashes, particularly during the rainy season.

“In this regard, there is a need for proper vehicle maintenance and standard tyres are to be used always. Road safety is everyone’s business. Let us unite and make our roads safe as life has no duplicates, and they cannot be photocopied or stored.”
