Men of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested a man, identified as Nurudeen Ibrahim for defrauding a woman (names withheld) of N10.4 million.

Ibrahim, who claimed to be a native doctor was also alleged to have raped the 50-year-old woman severally.

The state commissioner of police, Mr Moronkeji Adesina, who paraded the suspect alongside other criminals before newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday, said he was arrested by operatives of the command’s Anti-Fraud Unit last Friday.

The victim said she met Ibrahim in Aramoko-Ekiti, headquarters of Ekiti West local government area of the state sometime in September 2019 when her business was retrogressing.

The business woman said she was told to meet the man for some rituals in order to make her business flourish and stabilise.

She said the herbalist, between September 2019 and 2021, collected the sum N8 million through bank transfers and an additional N2.4 million cash from her as the cost of the rituals.

The woman stated that the suspect had unlawful carnal knowledge of her more than three times and threatened that she would die if she informed anyone including her husband.

But she decided to open up to her family members after she started noticing negative signs all over her body, as she could not menstruate again, after losing her business and became very ill.

Her family member later informed the police which led to the arrest of the herbalist.

The suspect admitted that he only collected N8 million from the woman to assist her in prayers to boost her business.
